François Rommens – Photography
For me, photography isn't about capturing. It's about traversing.
Walking, waiting, looking for a long time. Then, silently, deciding on a frame, a distance, a time.
I work in black and white, both film and digital, depending on the location, the rhythms, the materials. Choosing slowness is at the heart of my approach. It forces me to listen to what the image might contain rather than what it shows.
I'm interested in the traces we leave, the voids we inhabit, the forms that tell more than the facts. My photographs don't seek to document, but to suggest. They are often silent, sometimes harsh, always rooted in an attention to reality.
This site brings together a selection of my series, my thematic galleries, and some personal projects. Some of these images are available as numbered and signed art prints, carefully crafted to respect the original intention.
It is through this approach, between technique and perspective, that I attempt to construct a visual language. A language that doesn't say everything, but leaves room for interpretation, projection, and emotion.
